The subjects of the study were Freshman University students in Taiwan. It found that "these three online vocabulary flashcard websites mainly offered freshmen with the word knowledge in terms of form and words' meaning. Second, participants held positive attitudes toward learning and improving their vocabulary abilities via online flashcards and their related activities." 3. A social constructionist approach to teaching and learning vocabulary for Italian for academic purposes Authors: Eftychia Xerou, Salomi Papadima-Sophocleous, and Antigoni Parmaxi https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED572145.pdf This study involved students who were learning Italian. The participants were aged 16-25 with Greek as their mother tongue with 2nd language English, but no prior knowledge of Italian. All of the students were in different fields. They had to work together to make quizlet flashcards with vocabulary from their own areas of expertise. They had to decide which words were important and then search their meanings on the internet before entering in the words and definitions onto quizlet. "Overall, students replied positively to the activity as it allowed them to find the words themselves and construct their knowledge of the vocabulary. This fostered students’ knowledge in their specific fields of study; students found conducting the specific research with this method and the use of technology more interesting.
